Editing print templates

The layout of the templates used for printing property lists and individual property documents can be edited. Click on the 'View' menu, select 'Options', click on the 'Print Setup' tab and click on the button 'Edit Templates'.

The 'Templates' box should appear. In the left-hand column under 'Print Wizard templates', select 'RTF Templates'.

There are four print templates:
proptemplate.rtf - Used for printing the full details of individual properties.
proplisttemplate.rtf - Used for printing lists of properties.
apptemplate.rtf - Used for printing the full details of individual applicants.
applisttemplate.rtf - Used for printing lists of applicants.

The right-hand column displays lists of available tags for use in templates. If a tag is highlighted, a description of what information it relates to will appear in the box below.

To edit a template, select the one you want and click on the 'View\Edit' button. This should open the template in your Word-processing software. Note: The performance of the rtf templates in the Editor can be affected by the type and version of Word-processing software installed on your PC, and in certain cases cannot be effectively edited. We recommend using Word Pad.

Headers and footers can be added to the document, fonts and text size can be amended and additional text added as per the normal workings of your word-processing software. Additional information from your Editor database may also be inserted by adding extra tags. Select the tag you need in the 'Templates' box and click on the 'Copy' button. Return to the open template in your word-processor and paste the tag into the appropriate location. Note: Tags relating to details of properties/applicants (e.g. #STREET# or #MOBILE#) that are being added to list templates must be placed in between the tags ~PROP~ and ~/PROP~. The tags are similar to Word 'Mailmerge' fields and the template is similar in concept to Word 'Mailmerge' Documents.

Once you have finished editing the template, 'Save' the file without changing the file name or location. Amendments you have made will now be included every time you use the Editor print function.

If you later decide that you are unhappy with the edited templates and wish to return to the original defaults, click on the 'Restore' button in the 'Templates' box, then select which templates you wish to restore and click 'Ok'.
