Adding a property


To add a property, first enter the 'Properties' section of the editor and select 'Sales', 'Lettings' or 'All properties' depending on which part of your property list you wish to view. Next, press the Add button on the Toolbar.



The Property Details form will be shown. This is where all basic information is entered.



For Sale or To Let

First identify whether the property is for sale or to let, then fill in the other fields. The only required fields are Price, Postcode, Area, Type, and additionally for lettings, Furnishing.

Reference: Optional. If entered this will be displayed on the published page for the property.

Price: Required. Only numbers need to be entered, without commas or pound signs. For lettings the price may be per calendar month or per week. If you wish a sales property to appear as 'POA', enter 'neg' in the price box. The Editor will display the property as costing 99,999,999, but it will appear as POA on the site.

Suffix: Optional. Used to enter a price suffix such as Leasehold, Freehold, Price Guide, OIRO, OIEO.

No/Name: Optional. This is not shown on the advert, but can be entered for ease of reference within the Editor software.

Street: Optional. If entered, this will be displayed on the advert.

Postcode: Required. Entering the full postcode will help to maximise the number of searches that the property appears in. It will not be displayed on the advert. For non-UK properties, enter ZZ in this field.

Show (GoogleMap) Map: Optional. If this box is ticked and a full postcode has been entered, your advert will include a link to a street map of the area, provided by Google Maps.

Area: Required. The area field will contain a list of areas where properties have previously been added. If you can see the area you require, simply highlight it.



If you require an area not already listed, click on the 'Find Area' button. This will bring up a full alphabetical list of all the areas in the system. Highlight the one you want and click 'Select'.



If you can't find the area you need, you may have out of date area files. To download any new areas that have been added to Findaproperty.com, click on the drop-down menu to the side of the x-change button and select 'Download latest area files'.

Type/Bedrooms: Required. The most common types are listed. Others are selected by clicking 'Other' and selecting the property type from the drop-down menu and manually selecting the number of bedrooms. A number of bedrooms does not need to be entered for non-residential property types. The Editor will display them as having 99 bedrooms, but this will not appear on the site.

Sub-Type (Optional): This menu gives you a choice of more descriptive names to replace 'House', 'Flat' etc. eg. 'Apartment for 'Flat' and 'Bungalow' for 'House'.

Furnishing: Required for lettings properties.

Summary Description: Optional but recommended. A brief description of the property which should not exceed 400 characters (the counter to the left displays how many more characters you can add). Details entered in this field will be displayed in any property lists on Findaproperty in which this property appears.

The Status tab: Further optional details maybe entered by clicking on the status tab.



On this page an 'Available from' date maybe added, and status 'flags' maybe attached to the properties by simply clicking on the flag required. Flags may be removed by clicking on 'No flags'. If the tick-box 'Do not advertise this property' is ticked, it will not be sent to Findaproperty.com when you update, and will be displayed in the Editor property list in blue.

Once all the basic details have been added, save the information by clicking on 'OK'. You can now add photographs and a full description - see 'Adding Pictures' and 'Adding additional text'.

The property list in the Editor can be ordered by ordered by price, location, area, type or number of bedrooms by simply clicking on the appropriate column heading.



Clicking on the heading a second time reverses the order. Note that ordering your property list in the Editor has no effect on the order that the properties appear on the Findapoperty.com site.
